CO Detector Activation Reported at Residence

Natural Bridge Fire was dispatched shortly after 12:25 a.m. to investigate a carbon monoxide detector activation at a residence in the Carthage area, according to dispatch radio traffic. Dispatchers advised there was no reported illness and said the occupants had gone outside to their vehicle after the alarm continued sounding even after they tried changing the battery. The location was described over the radio near State Route 3A and County Route 37, though some address details were unclear in radio transmissions.

A second activation or re-page was broadcast at 12:31 a.m., again reporting no illness and confirming the occupants remained outside. Radio traffic then indicated a broader response, with Natural Bridge Fire Chief 31-0-2, Deferiet Chief 15-0-2, Carthage Engine 11-1-1, and Deferiet Engine 15-1-1 responding to assist. Natural Bridge’s chief arrived on scene at 12:37 a.m., followed moments later by the Deferiet chief, and dispatch assigned Fire Tac 1 for operations.

Responders reported on Tac 1 that crews were continuing the carbon monoxide investigation and coordinating around the detector as additional apparatus arrived. Deferiet Engine 15-1-1 reached the scene at 12:41 a.m., and Carthage Engine 11-1-1 arrived at 12:43 a.m. The incident was cleared at 12:53 a.m. when Natural Bridge’s chief went available, with Deferiet’s engine going out of service from the scene shortly afterward.
