Vehicle Crash Reported With Airbag Deployment

A motor vehicle crash with reported airbag deployment sent Town of Watertown Fire and ambulance personnel to Freeman Creek Road in Watertown shortly before 6:42 a.m. Tuesday. Dispatchers reported a Dodge Ram had gone off the roadway near 68 Freeman Creek Road, and the incident was initially handled as a major response with fire and medical resources requested.

A deputy began heading toward the scene immediately after dispatch, followed within minutes by a medic unit with paramedics and a responding fire engine from Town of Watertown Fire. Early radio traffic indicated a potentially more serious crash because of the airbag deployment and the vehicle leaving the roadway. As crews assessed the scene, deputies later reported visibility was good and that conditions appeared under control.

By the end of the response, the incident was downgraded to a minor property-damage crash. The chief advised that returning units could be canceled, and the call was cleared after about 26 minutes.
