Single-Vehicle Crash Reported With Airbag Deployment

Emergency crews responded to a major single-vehicle crash with airbag deployment on US-11 near County Route 30 in the Town of Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon. Philadelphia Fire and Indian River Ambulance were dispatched at 4:12 p.m. to 34741 US-11, with Chief 35-0-2 arriving on scene within minutes to establish command.

Radio traffic indicated the crash was located just north of a local landmark near a log cabin, and responders requested traffic control as crews worked to gain access to the vehicle. Command reported that the occupant could be removed once a door was opened. Indian River Ambulance arrived at 4:20 p.m., followed shortly by additional Philadelphia Fire units. As the scene developed, crews reported that about 10 utility poles were down, though the wires remained intact and no debris was blocking the roadway. State Police were advised to handle that portion of the incident, while tow arrangements were also being checked.

Indian River Ambulance later transported from the scene to Gouverneur. Philadelphia Rescue returned to service at 4:52 p.m., and Philadelphia units cleared the scene moments later. A subsequent update from State Police confirmed a damaged guardrail was off the shoulder and not obstructing traffic.
